A short history
Shrine tradition traces its origins to 1445, when Kono Masamichi enshrined Hachiman at his residence. It moved to Yachigashira in 1880; the present connected shrine buildings were completed in 1915.
Before you go
This is not Kameda Hachimangu elsewhere in Hakodate. The steep approach and stone steps matter when planning; a step-free route has not been verified. Maritime protection is a worship tradition, not a travel-safety guarantee.
