Prayer sourceEnshrined kami
Ichikishimahime no Mikoto (also worshipped as Benzaiten) · Kumano ni Imasu Okami · Yoshino ni Imasu Okami · Spirits of four Southern Court emperors · One hundred kami, beginning with Ame no Minakanushi
A short history
The shrine preserves traditions linking the Omine mountain region, ascetic practice and Benzaiten worship. Its history also records connections with the Southern Court and Noh. Origin stories should be read as religious traditions; performances and stored cultural objects are not automatically available on an ordinary visit.
Before you go
The short visit does not include Mount Misen or the mountain sanctuary. Formal indoor worship requires appropriate dress and socks. Noh and music are scheduled offerings, not daily visitor performances.
