A short history

Naminoue enshrines Izanami, Hayatamao and Kotosakao. Its foundation date is uncertain; its traditions connect the sacred realm of Nirai Kanai beyond the sea with the Kumano kami. It received royal patronage as one of the eight Ryukyu shrines.
