Enshrined kami

Takeiwatatsu no Mikoto, with eleven other family kami

A short history

The shrine enshrines twelve kami headed by Takeiwatatsu no Mikoto, with traditions linking them to Aso’s settlement and volcanic landscape. Six buildings are Important Cultural Properties. The gate damaged in the 2016 earthquake was restored in December 2023.
