A short history
The shrine took its present form during the early Meiji period. After a fire in 1919, it was rebuilt in 1923 to a design by architect Ito Chuta.
Before you go
The neighbouring Matsugasaki Shrine is a separate shrine. At the October 2026 review, the official site reported repair work closing the southern Hishimon Bridge; follow the current approach signs.
