A short history

Taga enshrines Izanagi and Izanami, described in mythology as the kami involved in creating the land. Affectionately known as Otaga-san, it has traditions of longevity, relationships and protection. These mythological accounts are not presented as established historical events.

Before you go

The Okushoin garden can close for ceremonies. It is not included in the ordinary visit allowance. Prayers express hopes rather than promises of longevity or relationships.
