A short history
Its origin tradition connects the shrine with the ancient journeys of Obiko and Takenunakawawake. The shrine’s long Aizu history is distinct from that legend. A 2008 fire destroyed major shrine buildings; reconstruction remains a subject of official notices.
Before you go
Do not expect the pre-fire main hall to be standing unchanged. Check the latest reconstruction and worship notices. Iris flowering and event dates vary each year.
