A short history

Founded in 1603 under Tokugawa Ieyasu’s direction as a shrine for protection from fire. Buildings damaged by later disasters and war were rebuilt in 1958.

Before you go

Allow time for climbing and descending. The official prayer-service hours do not establish grounds or amulet-counter hours. The shrine lists Buddhist figures as well as kami; these are retained in the deity information.
